GRANTS FOR NEW FIRE SAFETY REQUIREMENTS

GRANTS FOR NEW FIRE SAFETY REQUIREMENTS

South Ayrshire does not have a Care and Repair service like other areas because the Council withdrew funding for it, and it had to close.

However, the manager for East Ayrshire has agreed to cover applicants from South Ayrshire.

To qualify for financial support, applicants must own their home, be in Council Tax Bands A-C, and be in receipt of either ESA or Guaranteed Pension Credit.

Scottish Trunk Roads Update – A77/M77

Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland as part of the Network Management Contract for the South-West Trunk Road Unit, are undertaking essential maintenance on the A77 at Dutch House Roundabout from 8pm on Friday 14th January until 6am on Monday 17th January 2022, traffic management will take place on a continuous basis during this period.

The work will be carried out using a full weekend closure of the A77 Dutch House Roundabout circulatory and exits. To facilitate this, a series of temporary additional route closures and diversions will be in place – the A77 southbound will be closed after Symington, the A77 northbound will be closed from Sandyford Toll and the A78 will be closed in both directions between Monktonhead Roundabout and Dutch House Roundabout.

Interlinked Alarms – New Fire Safety Legislation

Interlinked Alarms – New Fire Safety Legislation

Attached is an information leaflet that I would urge you to read from the Fire Service, it contains full details on the type of fire alarms required. I have also outlined below some of the rules and useful links:

·         one smoke alarm installed in the room most frequently used for general daytime living purposes;

·         one smoke alarm in every circulation space on each storey, such as hallways and landings;

·         one heat alarm installed in every kitchen.

All alarms should be ceiling mounted and interlinked

Where there is a carbon-fuelled appliance (such as boilers, fires (including open fires) and heaters) or a flue, a carbon monoxide detector is also required which does not need to be linked to the fire alarms.

Find out more about this on the Scottish Government’s website
