Public Consultations – Maybole and Ayr
If you’re looking for something to do on the not so sunny days this summer, why not head along to our museums and galleries which are all now open. Rozelle House has some fantastic exhibitions on offer including, ‘Doon the Water: Come for the beaches, Stay for the sunsets!’ – which was especially chosen to celebrate Scotland’s Year of Coasts and Waters; and the brilliant Ayrshire College’s HND Art and Design End of Year Summer Show. In Girvan, the British Wildlife Photography Awards is making its debut at the McKechnie Institute; while our partners at the Maclaurin Galleries welcome back the iconic Scottish artist John Lowrie Morrison OBE (aka JoLoMo). Remember that all exhibitions are admission free! You can find out more on the Museums and Galleries page on our website
This week, COVID-19 drop-in vaccination clinics became available across all mainland health boards in Scotland. This means that everyone aged 18 and over can now go along to one of these clinics to receive their 1st dose, or their 2nd (if eight weeks have passed since receiving their first dose). You can use this link to find your nearest vaccination clinic
The Scottish Government are encouraging people to ‘make safer choices this summer’ to help stop the spread of coronavirus particles. Choosing to meet up with people outside, for example, can help to reduce the risk of COVID-19 strains spreading. The latest guidance is available here
There are two new public consultations I’d like to make you aware of this week. The first, which starts today, is on proposals to revitalise Maybole High Street. Residents areinvited to have their say on plans to spend £1.9m transforming the high street. The funding could see the introduction of a new market square, and expansion of pavements and public seating areas, once the Maybole bypass has been completed this winter. A new 3D fly-through has been created to help bring the plans to life. The fly-through and survey are available at www.south-ayrshire.gov.uk/consultations. The consultation closes on Friday 23 July at 5.00pm. You can find out more about the Maybole Regeneration Project here
Ayrshire Roads Alliance, on behalf of South Ayrshire Council, has just launched a parking consultation for Ayr. The consultation looks at everything from on-street and off-street parking, to residential permits. Just some of the proposals include: changes to charging for all on-street and off-street parking (which would run from 11.00 am to 6.00 pm Monday to Saturday); parking bays on Mill Street and Smith Street would become pay and display (with a maximum 2 hour stay instead of the existing 3 hours); and the introduction of pay and display on the Esplanade from Blackburn Drive northwards to its junction with Bath Place, from 1 April to 30 September. You can comment on the proposals on our website. The consultation is open now until 5.00 pm on Monday 16August
