Girvan FC have a number of initiatives to help improve the health and well being of people in the community and Walking Football is one of them. It is a great way for men and women to:
– meet people
– have fun
– improve physical and mental well being
We already run twice weekly walking football sessions for men which prior to lockdown were very successful. We will be re-launching these. However we also want to launch Walking Football for Ladies of all ages. We are really keen to extend the benefits and fun to the ladies of South Carrick.
Please note that we are very keen that people of all the communities in the area to benefit from the fun and well being that these sessions provide hence my reason for writing to you all. Also, these sessions are open to people of all abilities – novices are most welcome.

SISG Charity, have been delivering a service for over 30 years to those older people with a sensory loss to help reduce Isolation and loneliness in Ayrshire with Sensory stations, support groups and Lip reading classes. Recently we secured the contract with the Ayrshire councils to expand our services throughout Ayrshire. Due to the pandemic we are presently unable to provide this service at the hubs, but in the meantime we are distributing sensory packs to older people in the community who may benefit from them whilst the services are suspended.
